About 4 years ago my husband and I decided to look into the enormous possibility of emigrating to Australia – a place where we knew nobody that well. I started investigating how to have my qualification accessed and booked meetings with several immigration agents; all of which were very confusing and left us no wiser as to what we were meant to do and how we were to go about this process. We plodded on in the dark until a chat with a colleague led me to Joanna and GHS’s number. With little to lose and lots to gain we emailed her not expecting much response. To my surprise we got a phone call from Joanna the following day (yes, all the way from Australia!) and she helped clarify what we needed to get into place before she could actually find me a job. This set the tone for the rest of our adventure. When my qualifications assessment was turned down the first time, she advised on how to proceed and when it did come through eventually seemed genuinely pleased for us. We had already appointed an immigration agent for the actual visa application so did not need GHS’s services in that department, but nevertheless got some really useful advice from them which definitely put us at ease.
Throughout the whole process we had the definite sense that someone was looking after our best interests. If we were ever stuck or unsure of what to do next, it was a case of ‘we’ll ask Joanna’. She was very patient and was never pushy or frustrated with our endless changes of mind and continual back and forth between Perth and Sydney. We had continuous contact until we were ready to make the final decision and when we gave a specific spec of when and where, she managed to come up with the perfect job in and around the places we had asked for or mentioned that we liked.
Over the last 3 chaotic months of the process we always knew that the job situation was under control. All the necessary documentation and registrations were always sorted for me and copies of confirmations were sent with a professional and friendly attitude. Upon landing in Sydney, the relative that collected us at the airport told us Joanna had already phoned to check we had landed safely – WOW! What a pleasant welcome and total surprise. Such a nice thought, and it was really comforting to know that we had someone here for us. Joanna called again the following day to chat personally and it was like talking to a long last friend. Again, a lovely and most welcome touch. A few days later we received a local map book which came in really handy in those first few confusing weeks.
18 months on I am settled in a position that I love and am totally happy and was recently promoted to Chief of one of the branches. I have learnt new modalities: mammography, pressures, bone mineral densities and now I am being trained in CT again. I have heard from Joanna many times since arriving just to check that I’m still happy and settled. I am pleased to say that I am and attribute half of our happiness and ease of settling to Joanna and GHS. It is an absolute blessing not to have to worry about the job when there is so much else to worry about and sort out.
I would definitely recommend them to anyone and have already passed their details on to a number of friends back home and should the need ever arise, they would be the first people I call when and if I decided to move to another place. Another feather in their cap is the words of my general director. He said, “I know that when I get someone through Joanna, they are going to fit in and work out because they screen their candidates so well and choose them wisely and place them correctly”. Well done Joanna and thank-you from the bottom of my heart. I really do appreciate all the assistance and effort and wish you all the very best for the future. I will definitely keep in touch and keep recommending you!
