I have been a radiographer since 2001 and 11 years down the line, I felt I needed to stretch my wings and explore a different area of my career. So I decided the best way to do this is to work in another country. I came across Global Health Source’s advertisement in the South African Radiographers Journal. You couldn’t miss it! It was large, cheerful and had colourful fish on it. It attracted my attention immediately.
I decided to e-mail them as they specialised in Australia and New Zealand, which were definitely on my priority list of potential destinations. I got an immediate response with an application pack to fill in so that GHS could get a better idea of how they could assist me. Once this was complete, they provided me with the documentation and criteria necessary in order to make my application successful. This was a time consuming process, however, GHS always kept in touch over the phone and via e-mail checking up on how things were going and were always available to assist with advice and answers when questions arose.
They provided me with detailed information about the location and job description before they sent my CV for possible work placements. They kept in contact if a placement wasn’t successful and kept on searching until one was. When an interview arose, they were quick to lend a hand with typical interview questions and advice on how to approach a telephone interview. Once my application was successful, the sponsorship visa was quickly and easily handled by GHS and my employer, with minimal effort from my side.
GHS will always negotiate an excellent position for you and have the expertise to know what is best suited for each candidate’s needs, whether you will be travelling alone or relocating with your family. Global Health Source staff are proficient, very knowledgeable and are always friendly and ready to help. I have already given my South African friends their contact details as I feel with their long term experience and successful placements, they are definitely the most professional company to work through.I was given accommodation and a work vehicle for my first month so I had time to find my feet. It is a big step moving across the world alone to a foreign country but, GHS remained only a phone call away, continually checking up on me to see if I had found my feet and was enjoying my new workplace and home.
Thank you to everyone at GHS for making my Australian adventure a reality and for being with me every step of the way.
