I chose Radiography as a career path because I knew I wanted to travel and expand my knowledge whilst seeking out better opportunities for my family as well. We were living in Ireland quite happily for almost eight years but wanted a change. My hubby and I considered the idea of moving to Australia in 2010. Having moved to Ireland from South Africa in 2007 I was a bit sceptical about making such a big move again. However, a friend of mine made the move and happily referred me to Global Health Source. I made contact and received a very prompt response from GHS, ready and willing to assist me. After careful consideration we decided we were not ready for the move and I sent an apologetic email to GHS. They were most understanding and not pushy whatsoever. I did however sign up for their newsletter and enjoyed reading about the prospects of a new career in Australia and the success stories of others.
So in August 2014 the decision to move to Australia was made. I made contact with GHS yet again and they instantly gave me the impression that they were really interested in my goals, my objectives and my family’s needs. After a few friendly emails and phone calls, which were arranged at a time that suited me, Joanna Calder and Aimée James convinced me that GHS would be my guiding light throughout this daunting process.
From applying for my professional registration, finding a job, arranging a Skype interview (including interview tips!), securing a brilliant job offer, setting up private health insurance, the visa application and finally travelling to Perth, GHS made it all seem effortless. We went to South Africa on holiday before coming to Perth, which added its own set of issues to the relocation process, but even then GHS were there to help with those issues too. The whole process was not without hiccups but Joanna and Aimée kept me sane and allayed all my fears and concerns and I felt like I could stop stressing so much “cos they have got this!” With the time differences, I would email them at night with any concerns and I would have feedback when I woke up the next morning. I felt like I was their only client.
Moving a family of 5 with three children aged 2, 10 and 14 seemed crazy, but we did it and it would have been so much harder without their guidance. Before our arrival in February 2015, Aimée sorted our initial accommodation and Joanna even offered to help us with our luggage from the airport on a Sunday afternoon! During the first few days we went to their offices and received a warm welcome and a very thoughtful gift. After our arrival I received numerous emails and phone calls from them making sure we were settling in as smoothly as possible. We received advice on schools, transport and long-term accommodation etc. GHS offered us a personal and extremely valuable service, free of charge.
I would hereby like to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Joanna and her team. We have been here for three months now and settling in nicely. My family and I are very happy in our new surroundings.
If we ever wish to take the leap again, GHS will be my first stop. I highly recommend GHS for their excellence.
