Ever since I was a child I have had a fascination with Australian wildlife. It is just so different from what we have in Canada. This fascination is something that has remained with me, and Australia has led my list of dream travel locations.
After working in Canada for several years as a radiographer, I became discontent and knew that I needed a change. At the time, I didn’t know I was about to start a great adventure, only that something was going to be different. At some point I realized that the change I was seeking was an opportunity to reach for my dream, Australia.
I set off doing research about all the requirements and steps I would need to complete for making my journey take place and promptly became overwhelmed. I knew that I needed help from someone who knew the process. The wonderful people at Global Health Source turned out to be that “someone”, and am I ever glad that I found them!
Most of my contact was with Aimée. Aimée, was amazing and got me through the entire process from start to finish. No question was too small or silly. I was even given feedback for formatting my resume and tips for the Skype interviews. When a couple of opportunities fell through Aimée kept looking for another one, and her excitement at finding me one was genuine. My dream had come true and I set off to Tasmania only five months after first contacting GHS.
It’s been ten months since I first arrived in Hobart, Tasmania and it has been quite the adventure so far. Not only have I had the opportunity to work as a general radiographer, I have also been given the opportunity to continue working in computed tomography. I have travelled most of the state, made several trips to the mainland, and yes, I finally saw koalas and kangaroos in person. It’s been every bit the adventure I’ve always imagined. I can’t thank GHS enough for helping make my dream a reality.
