About the role

Occupational Therapist (Rehabilitation / Older Adult) — Coastal North Island, New Zealand

We are seeking an energetic, efficient and motivated Occupational Therapist to join an inpatient Allied Health team, working in the area of rehabilitation with older adults. A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a relevant area is preferred.

About the employer

The team is part of the wider allied health Inpatient team at a small community hospital which provides maternity, medical, mental health, surgical and psychogeriatric services. There are no emergency services.

About the role

  • Permanent full-time position
  • The ward focuses on rehabilitation for older adults admitted with a variety of injuries and medical conditions
  • Caseload of approximately 15 patients
  • May also be required to provide support on the orthopaedic and neuro-rehabilitation ward when required

The ideal candidate will have

  • NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with a current APC
  • Experience in the hospital inpatient setting
  • An appreciation of inter-professional practice (top of scope, skill sharing and delegation), or a willingness to learn to work this way
  • An understanding of the health needs of our Māori and Pacific communities
  • Eager to reduce inequities and improve health outcomes
  • Current full driver's licence
  • Enable accreditation (or willing to attain this)
