Managed Isolation in New Zealand
As anyone who is attempting to secure a spot can tell you, managed isolation places in New Zealand are as rare as hen’s teeth.
Part of the problem is that cancelled managed isolation vouchers are not returning to circulation after the Pullman Hotel stopped accepting new arrivals.
Investigations have begun into how three guests caught Covid-19 at the Pullman during their mandatory 14-day stay. The cases returned positive tests of the more contagious South African variant of Covid-19 after having left managed isolation raising questions about how they managed to become infected after returning negative tests previously.
The New Zealand Government has indicated it has no plans to add more capacity to MIQ at this stage.
