MIQ spots to open up in the coming months
New Zealand has released new dates into its Managed Isolation System with many places now available between May and September. Whilst places remain limited in May and June there is presently a great deal of availability between July and September. MIQ has introduced the ability to check flight availability by clicking on the “Check Flights” button below the MIQ calendars on its website. This flight checker enables you to complete the date you wish to arrive in managed isolation and search for all available flights landing in New Zealand on that date. This aids in booking flights from your home country.
Five hundred spaces per fortnight will be allocated in managed isolation facilities over the next 10 months, for skilled and critical workers to support New Zealand’s economic recovery. The Trans-Tasman bubble has freed up more rooms, allowing New Zealand to allocate more places in managed isolation for these critical workers. Around 20,000 vouchers will also be made available in the online Managed Isolation Allocation System over the next three months for New Zealanders wanting to return home.
It is not uncommon during these uncertain times for airlines to cancel flights. If your airline cancels your flight we recommend that you always contact your airline first to check if they have made any arrangements to reschedule your flight and allocation. If you book a new flight which arrives in New Zealand on the same day as your original flight, you can update your flight details in the Managed Isolation Allocation System by selecting the ‘Change flight’ option in step 3 of your registration. If you find a new flight which lands on any other day email flightchanges@miq.govt.nz with evidence of your original flight and voucher, notification from your airline of your cancelled flight, and details of your proposed new flight. MIQ requires you to contact them before you book your new flight and give them a few alternative dates so they can help you.
To date, MIQ has been very accommodating when this has occurred.
