Sonographer · New Zealand · Locum contracts from Canada to NZ

Casey, Sonographer
"I would not have been able to complete it without the patience and help of Patricia, Belinda and Lesley."
After 31 years in the same job, I took "early retirement" in order to pursue some travel work adventures. I originally thought that I could make my own arrangements to find work in New Zealand but even getting registered with the MRTB was complex and time consuming. Global Health Source was recommended by my former student, who went to New Zealand to do a six-month contract and is still there six years later. I am so glad that I contacted GHS! They helped me navigate all of the challenges of finding a job with accommodation, completing my registration with the MRTB, and getting my work visa and my partner's visitor visa. All of this paperwork was extremely complex, and I would not have been able to complete it without the patience and help of Patricia, Belinda and Lesley. My partner, Rob, is retired so he came along for my three-month contract in January 2024. We went to look at used cars on the Sunday morning after we arrived and had a car with licence and insurance within a couple of hours! While I was at work, he golfed and looked after groceries, meals and laundry. After work and on weekends, we toured and hiked like tourists on a mission! We saw every tourist area and attraction within 200 km, including Fiordland, the Catlins, Milford Sound, the Otago Wine District, Queenstown and Stewart Island. The hikes, beaches, waterfalls, and views were endless and amazing! My experience in the workplace was also fantastic, with the locals being extremely welcoming, friendly and kind. Small differences in their ultrasound protocols were easy to adopt and I found their national obstetrical guidelines to be extremely well-written, current, and concise. We enjoyed our experience so much that we are heading back to a new area of NZ to do another contract in November 2024, with the help of GHS!
